Termite Treatment Sydney
Termites have been confirmed, now the decision is how to deal with them. Chemical treated zones, baiting programs and direct colony work each suit different buildings, budgets and situations. This is where you weigh the options and get quoting underway for the right one.
Termite treatment in NSW is pesticide work: it must be performed by a pest management technician licensed by the NSW Environment Protection Authority, using registered products applied per label. Ask for the technician's licence details and the product records for your job, and keep both with the property file.

Ways to eliminate and manage an active problem
Chemical soil treatments
A continuous treated zone in the soil around and beneath the building, applied by trenching and injection.
Baiting and monitoring systems
In-ground and above-ground stations that intercept foragers and feed a growth inhibitor back to the colony.
Direct treatment of active workings
Dusts, foams and localised applications delivered straight into live galleries as the opening move.
Pre-construction management systems
Physical and reticulated systems designed into new builds, extensions and slab works before pouring.
Ongoing management and review
Scheduled reviews that keep a treated property protected as gardens grow and treatments age.

Treatment questions
Do I need an inspection before treatment can be quoted?
Yes, in practice. A treatment program is designed around species, extent of activity and construction details, none of which can be known from a phone description. If you have a recent timber pest report, that usually suffices; otherwise an assessment visit comes first.
Soil treatment or baiting, how do I choose?
It mostly falls out of the building. A completable perimeter with treatable soil favours a treated zone: one mobilisation, long service life. Broken perimeters, tiered blocks and termiticide-averse owners favour baiting: colony-level reach, but a serviced program over months. Many properties justifiably run both.
How long does a baiting program take to work?
Interception can be quick when stations sit near active foraging lines, but colony decline through a growth-inhibitor bait typically plays out over weeks to months, tracked across servicing visits. It trades speed for reach, the bait travels where liquids cannot.
Does treatment last forever?
No method does. Treated zones have finite service lives that vary with soil and product; stations need servicing; physical systems survive only until a renovation or garden bed bridges them. That is why every completion should end with a review schedule and continued periodic inspection, as the AS 3660 series assumes.
Is treatment safe for children, pets and gardens?
Registered termiticides applied per label by a licensed technician are used at defined rates in defined locations (soil against footings, sealed stations, injected galleries) not broadcast across living areas. Raise pets, tank water, vegetable beds and chemical sensitivities during quoting so the program is designed around them.
The termites are in a tree or fence, not the house. Treat anyway?
Often, yes, but as a considered decision. Nests in trees and timber structures within foraging range are tomorrow's building problem, and treating them at the source can be simpler than intercepting them later. An assessment weighs the nest location against the building's existing protection.
Leave live termite workings undisturbed until a technician has seen them, keep children and pets away from freshly treated soil and open trenches during works, and never handle bait station contents. If you suspect termiticide has entered a waterway or tank supply, contact the applicator and the NSW EPA.
How it works
From confirmed activity to managed property
-
01
Confirm what you are dealing with
Treatment starts from evidence: a recent inspection report, photos of live activity, or an investigation booked first if nothing is documented yet. Species and extent drive everything that follows.
-
02
Compare quoted options
You receive the viable methods for your building side by side (approach, disruption, servicing commitments and renewal expectations) rather than a single take-it-or-leave-it number.
-
03
Treatment is carried out
The licensed technician executes the chosen program: direct application to active workings first where present, then the soil zone, stations or system installation the plan calls for.
-
04
Records and review schedule
You get completion documentation, an updated durable notice, and a written review schedule stating when the protection should next be checked and by when renewal falls due.
