When it's needed
Any new dwelling, granny flat or slab extension, and any renovation that cuts new service penetrations through an existing slab. Retrofitting protection after construction costs multiples of designing it in, so this decision belongs with the building plans, not the landscaping phase.
Leave live termite workings undisturbed until a technician has seen them, keep children and pets away from freshly treated soil and open trenches during works, and never handle bait station contents. If you suspect termiticide has entered a waterway or tank supply, contact the applicator and the NSW EPA.
